At On The Rail Farms, we are committed to providing the highest level of care possible for your horse; and providing a safe, comfortable, and satisfying experience for you as a boarder. We pride ourselves in taking care of your horses as well as we take care of our own. We live on our property in the main house. Our barn manager also lives on site.
Our full board is $450 per month. This rate includes quality Tribute brand feeds, hay, daily turn out, daily stall cleaning, as well as the other basics of care. Our stalls are 10×12, rubber matted, and bedded with wood pellet bedding. Horses receive daily turn out unless there is severe weather. Feedings are done at approximately 7:30 and 4:00 daily, and a night check is performed between 10:00 and 11:00 pm. Water buckets are filled at every check, and also cleaned each week.
On The Rail Farms is very active facility. Our indoor arena is 72’ x 104’ and gives year round riding options.
We also have outdoor riding options when conditions permit, with an outdoor sand arena, a trail that spans the circumference of our 30 acres, and large jump arena (Summer 2018).
Forage is always a concern for owners. We grow the majority of our own square bale hay, which is a grass – alfalfa mix. When in their stalls, horses are fed what they need in square baled hay. We use slow feeder nets we have designed to minimize hay waste and maximize consumption. When turned out, horses are free to feed from round bale hay of equine quality that is covered with slow feeder nets and kept dry under horse hay huts. Hay huts are positioned on pads constructed of crushed limestone to keep the mud at bay. Since we are in Indiana, and on flat farm land, mud is always a challenge, but we go to great lengths to keep the horses safe and healthy in that environment. In the spring and summer months, we do rotate the horses on grass pasture from their turn out lots.
We have both an indoor and outdoor wash rack, available when weather permits. We have a heated break room, and an upstairs heated viewing room overlooking our indoor arena. Our lesson program is contained in a special wing of the barn to ensure easy access to your stalls and lockers.
WiFi is also provided for our patrons.
